Cool down in the shade

It's been very hot, yet again, but we have various solutions for you here at Whitlingham on a hot summer's day.
What's new?
Brand NEW sail shades have been installed on the Flint Barn Café patio! Thank you to our kind visitors who allowed me to include them in this photo. They were delighted to be able to sit outside in the cool shade.

How else can I keep cool at the park?
Much of our Great Broad circular footpath is shaded by tree cover. It always feels cooling to be near to water on a hot day, and you get to see all the boaters and wildlife enjoying the space as you stroll.
Alternatively, pop over the lane and into the woods for cooling tree cover. We have lots of woodland pathways to explore. There are some steps in the woods, but our alternative sloped routes enable access for those who seek a step-free visit. See our map below to find them.
Can you find this amazing veteran tree at the top of Whitlingham woods?

Did you know that Trowse Woods and Trowse Meadow are also park of Whitlingham Country Park? Explore there for more cooling shade, or say hello to our five female highland cows who live on the meadow.

Check out our park map to plan your cool shaded visit. You can download a copy, or pick one up for FREE from our new Visitor Welcome Centre at the bottom of Flint Barn Car Park.

The best way to cool off
If the tree cover and shades don't sort you out, then come and visit our Flint Barn Café for ice-creams and lollies from local company Dann's. Our takeaway café hatch at the Visitor Centre also has a soft-serve machine for cooling cones and tubs of soft-serve ice-cream. With flakes, sauces and sprinkles, you can really make it your own!
We look forward to welcoming you soon 😎
