The Water Management Alliance are currently installing a large drainage pipe for us on the north side of the Great Broad.

This work will allow us to manually control the water level of the Great Broad as it is a man-made water space. This action will help to reduce the risk of winter flooding which we have experienced in the past few years.

There are some smaller drainage pipes already in that location, however these are not large enough for the level of water control we need.

Excellent news, you can still access the Great Broad circular path.

Where is this pipe work taking place?

The star on the map below indicates the approximate area where this work is taking place. The pipe will join the Great Broad water space with Colman's Cut, an offshoot (distributary) of the River Yare.

You can also admire our latest coppicing work and dead hedging on the way to that area.

What's happened so far?

The excavations are underway for the drainage pipe to be installed so there are vehicles and machinery on site. Here's the latest progress in photos:

How long will the drainage pipe works take?

The work is due to be completed in the next few weeks.

A huge thank you!

This work would not be able to take place without these wonderful organisations:

Great thanks for their support.

Thank you for your patience while we continue to improve the park for you.
