I love my little cycle commute to work at the park, but cycling is definitely not just a lovely way to get to work, or to get from A to B. It's an invitation for adventure and exploration.
Why not cycle to Whitlingham Country Park to enjoy the scenery on two wheels? We are fortunate to be positioned so close to the city and a Sustrans cycle route comes right through the park!
And if you're heading here by car, our car parks have no height restrictions so you can easily reach us even if you have bikes on a roof rack.
Is Whitlingham Country Park a good place for family bike rides?

The Great Broad path is a fantastic place for families to cycle. The path is wide and flat, with lots of long straight stretches and no mud, even when it rains. Hooray! This option provides a circular route of 2.3 miles (3.7km) which is a great manageable distance with little ones. Kids love the satisfaction of a circular route too, as they know they will get back to where they started and feel proud of their achievement.
There are plenty of places to stop and sit on a bench if your legs need a rest, fancy admiring the views, or do some wildlife spotting. You can always tempt your young cyclists to finish the lap with the promise of a treat at the Flint Barn Cafe afterwards too!

Where can I leave my bike securely?

If you are stopping for a visit to the Flint Barn Cafe, or to continue your adventure on foot, there are plenty of places you can securely lock up your bikes. There are bike racks in the Lime Avenue car park, Flint Barn car park and down near our barbecue site further down Whitlingham Lane. You will also find our log jumble play area there which is fun for kids to explore.

Can I hire a bike at Whitlingham?
We are pleased to offer a permanent Beryl bikes stand at the park (in the Flint Barn car park near the toilet block), so you can always hire one of those to explore if you can't bring your own bike along. Take a look at their website or app for terms and conditions and pricing. They even have e-bikes which give you a boost of battery power, making it even easier to get around.
Please note, unfortunately, there are no Beryl bikes of a suitable size for children.

So, when you're stuck for a summer activity idea, just head down to the park to explore on two wheels for a fun day out. We look forward to welcoming you soon! š“āāļøš“āāļø
