Trowse Water Meadow
Regrettably the sheer volume of visitors to the meadow has had such an impact over the last few years that we have taken the decision to close to the public. The meadow has been open throughout the last two years of covid and several lockdowns when people have needed somewhere to go but now it needs time to recover and we ask everyone to respect that decision.
It is easy to count 60+ people on the meadow on a hot day, the swimming and climbing out has caused bank erosion of up to 4 meters in places exposing hazardous piling. Increased littering, broken glass, BBQ’s and open fires are frequent and vandalism to the access points have all contributed to the decision. Although it would be easy to point the finger at a particular user group, we all have an impact.
The meadow remains an important part of the Country Park and we are hopeful that once the safety issues have been addressed we will be able to reopen for everyone to enjoy.
