Anyone who has visited Whitlingham Country Park will know that there is a magical beauty about the space, at any time of year. It is a great spot to enjoy photography.

For locals and visitors alike, it's hard to resist taking photos of wildlife, stunning skies or reflections in the Great Broad. One of our visitors, Rob White, captured this stunning image of two swans recently. What a shot!

Rob has captioned the image with:

In this life, or the next, there will be a time when no words are needed.

What does it take to capture a great shot of wildlife?

We all love to snap away with our camera phones, or perhaps some more specialised cameras, but what does it take to get a really great shot worthy of a frame?

Norfolk Wildlife Trust have some great advice for budding wildlife photographers, Take a look at their blog from earlier this year.

3 top tips:
  1. Be patient - wildlife is often unpredictable

  2. Consider your background carefully to get the perfect composition

  3. Turn off your flash so you don't disturb the wildlife you are trying to capture in your photo

How can we celebrate the talented photographers of Whitlingham?

Have you taken a stunning shot like Rob's swans above?

We are thinking of launching a photography competition in the new year. Photos of the landscape and wildlife in all seasons would be fantastic, all in celebration of our beautiful park.

Watch this space for an update in early 2026!

For further inspiration, here are some other amazing shots Rob White has kindly shared with us. Many thanks, Rob for giving us your permission to share these stunning skies over our Great Broad.
