Here at Whitlingham Country Park, we've been working with Easton College 'Ticket' course students for many years. They take part in multiple sessions to gain hands-on experience with us and we love having them!

What is the Ticket course at Easton?
Their website states:
Inclusive Learning courses are designed to help you plan for the future and progress to your next step. Small bespoke group learning is delivered by a team of dedicated staff. We recognise the challenges that our Inclusive Learning students face and we ensure that we provide the right level of support and encouragement to meet each individual’s needs.
The students experience a range of teaching methods, including practical learning when they are with us at the park. They take part in coppicing through the winter, using tools such as bow saws and loppers.
Some of the students may seek outdoor-based work, or they may go on to further study options with Easton or elsewhere, but they gain confidence and practical skills here to support whatever their next steps may be.
Meet the crew
Today, 24th March 2026, the Easton College crew have been working with our staff and regular volunteers to cut and burn brash (fallen and cut material from trees) but have been taking part in coppicing work here throughout the winter season.
This was this group's final session with us. Each of them receive a certificate of thanks from Whitlingham Charitable Trust and a Whitlingham pin badge to remember us by. They also had a celebratory hotdog lunch together.

What does being at Whitlingham mean to the students?
Two of the students told me what their favourite thing was about being at Whitlingham
I love being in the fresh air and working in a team - Henry
Doing all the coppice work and helping the volunteers - Isaac
Thank you for all your hard work over the winter season and we hope you enjoyed your hotdog lunch to celebrate your success!
